Stauffenberg is given access to Hitler’s military briefing at the Wolf’s Lair in East Prussia. He places a briefcase bomb under the conference table, then leaves the room. The bomb explodes, killing several officers. Believing Hitler is dead, Stauffenberg flies back to Berlin and orders the activation of Operation Valkyrie.

Valkyrie is a 2008 American-German historical political thriller film. The movie is a dramatization of the real-life 20 July plot, a desperate attempt by German army officers to assassinate Adolf Hitler and take control of the German government using a plan called "Operation Valkyrie".

The production of Valkyrie faced unique challenges. Christopher McQuarrie (who would later direct Mission: Impossible – Fallout ) wrote the script after visiting the memorial to von Stauffenberg in Berlin in 2002. Director Bryan Singer insisted on location authenticity, filming in the actual in Berlin—the very building where Stauffenberg was executed.
